Beside the Sea

Well, this term we have been thinking about our ‘sea’ theme in many different ways but, sooner or later we had to splash out, take the plunge and get our feet wet so, to this end, PLACE families made the trip to  the seaside town of Southend.

Please have a look at a few moments from our trip …

At the pier museum – as you can see, it is the longest pier in the world – well done Southend!

A talk from one of the volunteers at the RNLI lifeboat station – you can see the giant pier in the background.

Israel is trying on the gear in which lifeboat crew put to sea. It was very hot and heavy – fortunately, there was someone on hand to rescue him.

The pier is so long (1.3 miles) that a train is provided to take visitors from one end to the other. Here are some PLACE families enjoying the ride.

And finally our close encounter with the sea – such a beautiful day.
